Wondered what some of our English bretheren thought to GK's latest move. They seem to be trying to imitate some of the larger brewing concerns policies of buy and shutter. Any thoughts from those on the ground. FWIW I've never had andy of the H&H brews (Castle Rock is the only Nottingham brewer I've tasted, well that I'm aware of).

Greene King have little humility and more business sense than common sense. There is still debate as to whether they are a good or a bad thing (they are, after all, committed to brewing and marketing real ale over other types of beer), but I fall on the 'bad thing' side of the debate. Personally, I think the real ale commitment is a cynical ruse to capitalise on a niche whilst keeping CAMRA on side and that they'd drop it in a second if they thought they could make more money doing something else.
