We're gearing up for a hoppy 4th of July this Thursday. As of opening today we'll have five beers from Alpine Beer Company on draft: McIlhenney's Irish Red, Nelson, Odin's Raven,Pure Hoppiness, & Duet joining RRBC's Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid (speaking of Lagunitas, fans of barrel-aged dark beers such as Consecration should try their SoCo Stout; a critter-ized stout aged in Pinot Noir barrels... it's excellent, and we still have some left), Firestone Walker's Union Jack, a fresh batch of El Segundo Citra pale, and a trio of really big IPA's: Sierra Hoptimum, our 4th keg of Boneyard Nefarious, and a 2nd batch of Port Brewing's awesome 7th Anniversary IPA. We're also getting more of the new Modern Times beers today, including the brand-new Neverwhere 100% Brettanomyces IPA. Tuesday also means Steak Night; the sides tonight are mashed poatoes with country gravy and broccoli. Pints of Stone Brewing's Pale ale brewed with Emerald hops are going for $3 today as well.
As for the 4th, we will be open our normal hours: from 11:30 am to 2am. We'll have $3 Green Flash 30th Street Pale Ales all day, and we'll throw on casks of Ballast Point's Dorado IPA brewed with Amarillo & Coronado's Peanut Butter Stout. Come enjoy your day with us here at the Toronado before the fireworks start.
One last thing: Congratulations are due our own Eric Shelley, who took 2nd and 3rd place in the IPA category at last weekends homebrew competition at the San Diego County fair. Eric is making some great beer; there were over 100 entries into that category and to medal once (let alone twice) is quite an achievement. Let him know you heard about it. That's it, have a great 4th of July, and we'll see you here for some great beer.
