SONNENALP HOSTS AUTHENTIC BAVARIAN OKTOBERFEST

VAIL, Colo.—September 23, 2013–Raise your stein and say “Prost!” at the Sonnenalp Oktoberfest. This true Bavarian celebration takes place Saturday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.

The Sonnenalp Hotel is collaborating with Paulaner Munchen, the official beer of Munich’s Oktoberfest, to transform the entry of the hotel into a German beer hall, bringing the energy and charm of Munich straight into the heart of Vail. Live music, authentic fare and abundant German beer will be some of the highlights of the festival.

“We are excited to host our first Oktoberfest,” says Johannes Faessler, the Sonnenalp’s owner. “Because Oktoberfest originated in my homeland of Germany, being able to share this tradition with our guests is something I value.”

For those wanting to immerse themselves in German culture, the Sonnenalp Hotel is offering an exclusive lodging package for this event. The $199 package rate includes a stay in a junior suite, two commemorative Sonnenalp Oktoberfest beer steins, two complimentary Paulaner beers, $15 reduced price valet parking and complimentary basic Wi-Fi. Upgrades are available to include Sonnenalp breakfast. In addition, stay two nights at the Sonnenalp and receive a complimentary refill in your stein at any of the hotel’s restaurants during your stay.

The Sonnenalp is also offering reserved tables during Oktoberfest at the hotel. For just $275, up to eight people can enjoy two beers each, a comfortable place to relax with friends during the event and a selection of foods, such as pretzels and other Bavarian fare.

All ages are welcome at the event and admission is free. For more information and to book accommodations, guests may call 970-476-5656 or visit www.sonnenalp.com.

About Sonnenalp: The Sonnenalp name and tradition of hospitality go back nearly a century to Ofterschwang, Bavaria, where, in a simple ranch house, the Faessler Family opened a hotel that epitomized the finest in personalized service in beautiful surroundings. The spectacular setting in Bavaria inspired the Sonnenalp name – “Sun on the Mountains” – a name that translated perfectly when the Faessler family fell in love with Vail and opened a hotel here in 1979.

Four generations after their humble beginnings, the Sonnenalp is a thriving part of the family of Sonnenalp hotels, offering the same warmth and hospitality as the original Bavarian ranch house in a setting of true luxury.
