Few foods give carnivores the indulgent satisfaction of bacon. The obsessed can celebrate the breakfast staple, along with barbeque, bourbon and beer, at the 4B Fest in New Haven on March 22. Sorry, teetotaling vegetarians, this event is not for you.
The fest goes down at the old Robby Len Swimsuit Factory building at 1175 State Street, now home to fitness studios and creative enterprises. But it has plenty of room for 4B Fest's many exhibitors, including Oak Haven Table and Bar, Deep River Snacks, City Steam, The Owl Shop, Knob Creek, Dinosaur BBQ, Two Roads and Baconbites.com.
Ticketholders will be treated to 2-ounce tastings of beer and 1/4-ounce tastings of spirits, samples of barbeque from various restaurants and pit masters, and samples of bacon and "bacon-infused treats." A complementary souvenir pint glass will be a great trophy to commemorate all this euphoria.
In addition to all the food and booze, 4B will have a home-brewer's competition, a barbeque team competition, a bacon-eating contest, art displays and live music from local bands. There are two tasting sessions, from 12 to 4 p.m.; and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The fest's website has information about parking and area hotels, as well as the full list of exhibitors. Shuttle buses will be running to and from Union Station. Tickets for 4B Fest are $75, $150 for VIP (which includes everything from regular admission plus a swag bag and other perks) and $15 for designated drivers, with access to food stations only.
