Tickets are on sale at noon Friday for one of Asheville's big beer events, the seventh annual Beer City Festival May 28, at Roger McGuire Green at Pack Square Park downtown.

The festival is a cornerstone event for Asheville Beer Week, a celebration of the local craft brew scene that runs May 27-June 4. Beer Week events have traditionally included tastings, dinners, festivals, special beer releases and more.

The Beer City Festival will feature only members of the Asheville Brewers Alliance, the non-profit organization that represents the area breweries. While the participating breweries have not yet been announced, Buncombe County has 24 breweries open now, with than 40 total in Western North Carolina. More breweries will be opening this year including the big New Belgium plant on the French Broad River in West Asheville.

The festival also includes live music. A portion of the proceeds benefits Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Western North Carolina. The festival is open only to ages 21 and older.

Advance tickets are $45, with the price going to $50 the day of the event. Tickets can be ordered at beercityfestival.com and more information on Asheville Beer Week will be posted at www.avlbeerweek.com
