Steamworks Brewing Co. to re-open TOMORROW
Popular brewpub to celebrate its 20th Anniversary facelift

DURANGO, Colo. Fans of Steamworks Brewing Co. will soon rejoice as the popular brewpub is set to re-open on April 28, 2016, showcasing an extensive remodel just in time for its 20th Anniversary.
Were excited for our patrons to enjoy the new renovations, said Kris Oyler, Steamworks co-founder. We certainly didnt want to close, but our contractor, FCI, did a stellar job of keeping the construction moving along and on schedule. It was 19 business days from start to finish, and with all that was done, thats an amazing construction schedule.
Steamworks closed its doors on April 4, 2016, implementing Phase III of a comprehensive renovation program, which included complete redesign of the entry area, pushing the hostess station deeper into the restaurant to allow for a larger guest waiting area. The new hostess station is also now equipped for to-go and growler order payment, and eliminates the need for a to-go check to be paid at the bar.
With the waiting area enlarged, the kitchen also will be pushed back and reconfigured. Phase II of the remodel, completed earlier this year, involved construction of a full prep kitchen, including new coolers, in the basement. As a result, the upstairs kitchen area is now compressed and more efficient.
The remodel also included removal of the small stage in the bar, and creation of a new retail area, with no net loss of tables. Energy efficient windows which open have been installed throughout the restaurant.
Our two main goals are to allow for more customers waiting for tables to be inside, off the sidewalk, and improve the efficiency of the kitchen, said Brian McEachron, Steamworks co-founder. It was sort of 1996 dj vu with so much of the restaurant gutted, but the result is stellar, and it will improve the experience for our guests.
Phase I of construction at Steamworks, completed last fall, included remodel of the restrooms, installation of new LED lighting and efficiency improvements behind the bar. FCI Constructors, with Bauen Group LLC, have overseen all three phases of the construction and design, with Steamworks investing some $1.2 million in the remodel.
