August 31: Crossed Sticks American Lager
Crossed Sticks American Lager, a light and refreshing lager made with corn. We brewed this beer with Portland LumberJax Lacrosse player Ryan Powell as a call-out to macro-American lagers. With a moderate bitterness and flavors and aromas of cracker, slight corn, and spice, this 4.5% ABV, 26 IBU lager is easy-drinking at its finest. Stop by the pub or the beer garden for a pint!

Fresh Hop Beer Release No.2: Fresh Hop Hellsner
    8.31.17
    Baerlic Brewing Co.
    2235 SE 11th Ave,
    Portland, OR 97214
    4 pm
    www.facebook.com/events/1642443142456093/
Our favorite time of year is upon us! Fresh Hop season starts NOW!
ABOUT THE BEER: Fresh Hop Hellsner is a hoppy German Style Helles conditioned on Freshly Picked Santiam hops from Indie Hops. 5% ABV and insanely chuggable. This is the Second of Three Fresh Hop beers we are doing this year!
ABOUT FRESH HOPS: Every year the Pacific Nothwest Hop Harvest happens from early to mid August to the end of September. As the farmers pick them from the bines (yes bines, not vines), they dry them out to about 10-15% moisture and then package them free of oxygen so they will hold up for us brewers to be utilized throughtout the next year.
But, seeing as we are 45 minutes away from the farms we source most of our hops from, we get the rare opportunity to drive down as they are picking the hops and snag them before they are dried. We race them back to the brewery and pitch them into the beer on the hotside or condition the beers on the cold side (dryhopping with fresh hops).
The difference is really apparent and can be described as the difference between using freshly picked herbs and spices from your garden when cooking instead of dried herbs and spices you purchased from the grocery store.
And time is of the essence, drink these beers fast and fresh for the full Fresh Hop Experience!!

Mt. Angel Volksbier is a collaboration with the folks Mt. Angel Oktoberfest. We made a beer to commemorate their fantastic festival (Sept. 14-17) and we’re releasing it a little early at our pub.
The beer is a mash up of an India Session Ale and German ingredients so we’re calling it a Bavarian Session Ale! It brings together hops sourced from the Hallertau region of Germany and the foothills of Mt. Angel in the Willamette Valley. Spicy, tropical and fruity aromas compliment honeydew and stone fruit flavors all derived from hops and traditional German Ale yeast.
If you buy one of the very limited bottles on August 31, we’ll make sure you get $2 off your Biergarten wristband to the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest.

On Sunday, September 3rd from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., we are hosting our fall release of barrel-aged beers at the newly opened wine country tasting room and brewery. The new facility boasts stunning wine country views, outdoor seating and a handful of draft only, tasting room offerings in addition to the current bottled release. At the event, five new bottled beers will be available for tasting for the first time and bottle pickup for mailing list members (sign up here).
“After a handful of releases in the parking lot, we finally have a place that we’re just as proud of as the new beers we’re releasing!” says cofounder Matt Van Wyk. “We’re also excited to celebrate after the Ducks get their first win of the season that Saturday!”
    Beers to be released include:
Pinot Spontanée – Barrel-aged wild ale spontaneously fermented on Pinot Noir must.
Kind of Blue – Barrel-aged wild ale refermented on blueberries.
French 75 – Brett saison aged in gin barrels with lemon zest and spices.
Bailey’s Joy – Almond Joy-inspired, imperial milk stout aged in bourbon barrels with coconut and cocoa.
Oregon Honey – Farmhouse ale brewed with Oregon-grown malts and local wildflower honey.
EVENT DETAILS: The event will take place from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 3rd at Alesong’s new brewery and tasting room – located at 80848 Territorial highway about 30 minutes southwest of Eugene. Beers will be released online first to the mailing list a couple weeks prior to the release and this will be the official pick-up party. For members who have purchased bottles during the online presale, orders will be ready for pickup and free samples will be available of each, accompanied by carefully paired ice cream samples. A food cart will also be on site providing more substantial meals.
Non-mailing list members are also welcome – tastes of our newest release with ice cream pairing will be available for purchase ($20) as well as bottles of the new release depending on availability after the presale.

A traveling barbeque road show! We can’t think of a better way to close out the summer season. Kelsey Small (formerly of Bufalina and Franklin BBQ) and Mat Gonzales (formerly of LA BBQ) of Austin’s BBQ pop up Rattle Creek Meat Co. will bring the heat of Austin BBQ and Tex-Mex to The Suttle Lodge on their traveling tour of the U.S.
Expect an incredible family-style menu of smoked Brisket, chicken and ribs, with creative seasonal vegetables and sides inflected with a Texas kick from serrano, hatch and jalapeno chiles, along with their signature sauces. To finish, they’ll serve seasonal fruit pie. GoodLife Brewing will be pouring their beers to cool things down, and the meal will be served outside on the lawn overlooking the lake.
